Help Serve Inner City Kids at HPCO

Volunteer for the Spring Sports Super Saturdays on April 30 and May 7, 2011!

Once a month Sunday Afternoon Kids Club
On the first Sunday of the month, we are offering an afternoon Sunday school program for our kids. It’s a great way for families to get involved in one of our programs! We do a Bible lesson, Scripture memory, games and snacks with the kids. Our Sunday club runs from 2-4:00. This is a great opportunity for a first time volunteer to come and observe and/or serve in this program. A short 1\2 hour training will be held before each club to prepare volunteers for what they need to know.

Monday Night Arts Program
Urban Arts is a organization which comes alongside inner-city ministries and supports them by offering classes for youth grades 3rd-8th to learn music, drama and art. The program runs from 6-8 pm each week. In December, the youth will have the opportunity to perform what they have been practicing all year. It's a great opportunity for our youth to be able to learn more in the arts and also shine in gifts they have been given. We are looking for a handful of adults to come help with "crowd control", snacks and to be extra hands during the classes.

Tutoring
Help work with 1 or 2 children for a couple of hours one day a week (TBD) assisting them with their homework and tutoring in specific problem areas as well as encouraging their spiritual growth. Some of the Jr. and Sr. High boys have tutoring on Thursday afternoons.

Jr/Sr High Discipleship
A time for our Jr/Sr High youth which involves fellowship, Bible study, and opportunities for discipleship. This program takes place each Thursday night from 6:30-8:30.

Boxes of Love
For Thanksgiving and Christmas, we are able to pass out food boxes to families in the Highland Park area. These boxes are put together by area churches and volunteers and include a turkey along with everything else needed for a full meal. At Christmas time, we also give out gifts to the children involved with our programs. This is an amazing opportunity for people to be a blessing to families in need during the holidays.

SUPER SATURDAYS AND SUMMER CAMP
For 2 Saturdays in early May we offer our kids a baseball and soccer clinic along with lots of food and fun. Volunteers can serve as coaches, food service, or support staff. In the summer we have a 6 week day camp which features tutoring, recreation, and bible class and one week of overnight camp. There are many opportunities to serve a day, a week, or a whole summer. College internships are available.
